Public Policy on the Internet
Philippine Daily Inquirer, January 16, 1998

PUBLIC Policy, a quarterly publication providing in-depth analysis of critical local issues and developments in the Southeast Asian Region that influence the Philippine economy, can now be previewed over the Internet at http://www.webphilippines.com/public policy.

The publication is put together by the University of the Philippines for Integrative and Development Studies (UP-CIDS). Some of the most respected practitioners from various professions, the academe, and media such as Amado Doronila, Jose Abueva, Sen. Edgardo Angara, Prof. Benjamin Diokno and Solita Monsod comprise the publication's editorial staff and contributors.

The Public Policy site is hosted by Web Philippines, Inc., a two-year old company specializing in designing and hosting Filipino content sites over the Internet which is working closely with the UP-CIDS. Web Philippines is headed by Ramon Canumay.

The inaugural issue of Public Policy examines the Philippines constitutional crisis and the role of the military in Philippine democracy; how and why the Southeast Asian currency and financial markets crisis forced the depreciation of the Philippine peso; the rampant kidnapping of ethnic Chinese in the Philippines; and the El Niño phenomenon.
